Det som avgör vilken jiggskalle som ska användas är krokstorleken, då den avgör vart på jiggkroppen kroken kommer ut ur jiggen. Sedan kan man välja olika vikt på jiggskallen beroende på hur djupt man vill att jiggen ska gå, eller form som passar olika fiskemetoder olika bra.
Det finns även andra typer av jiggskallar utan krok så kallade "Screw-In-Heads" som oftast används vid gäddfiske där de minsta storlekarna passar jiggar från ca. 13-14 cm och uppåt.
Krokstorleken benämns med en siffra. Desto högre siffra, desto mindre fiskekrok. Storlek 30 är en jätteliten krok, 4 är betydligt större. Står det en nolla efter, tex 2/0, är den ännu större. Desto högre siffra före nollan, desto större krok. Vi har ett sortiment från den mista kroken 30 till vår största 18/0.
